After dedicating seventeen years of her career successfully managing multi-million- dollar programs and projects at several major nonprofit organizations, Ms. Hembry decided that it was time to use her expertise to help companies and agencies who lacked the access to the resources and information that many multi-million- dollar agencies possessed.  Realizing that the small to mid-sized nonprofits she encountered had the basic infrastructure available, but lacked the knowledge and implementation strategies to operate efficiently, she started Destiny Development Business Solutions, LLC (DDBS) to help nonprofits take their organizations where they were destined to be. 

Beginning in 1996 as a Community Reinvestment Affordable Housing Loan Officer, her desire to help underserved communities thrive, she focused her career path on community development and human services for at-risk populations.  This focus led her to become the Business Development and Division Manager for a major Community Development Corporation in Washington, DC’s Ward 7 community. In this capacity, she became an integral part of transforming the commercial districts into a more thriving area.  Leveraging her direct service experience, in 2009 she began serving in the capacity of project manager for a commercial developer, where she managed a marketing and outreach campaign to attract new business and residential interest in an underserved area in Prince George’s County, MD.   This experience led her to expand her expertise to a national level, where Ms. Hembry, served as a Program Specialist for a community economic development department and became the national organizational excellence training leader, where she assisted nearly 100 Community Action Agencies in implementing standard best practices.  Recognized for her deliberate approach to, not only teach excellence. but model it in her own work, at the same company, she became the Program Director for the company’s nationally operated, first of its kind, homeless veteran support program.  Managing 23  local and national staff and ensuring that the deliverables were met, during this three- year program, her leadership was responsible for preventing homelessness for nearly 1,000 veterans and their families a year.   

Ms. Hembry is a certified Organizational Excellence Peer Review Expert, holds several Economic Development, Business and Grant Writing, Leadership and Business Development certifications from Neighborworks America, the International Shopping Center Exchange, Inc. and was trained as a Community Action Partnership- Certified Pathways to Excellence Trainer.  Ms. Hembry is currently completing her degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland, University College.  She has two young adult children and two adorable grandsons.
